I've heard that some of the largest waves ever recorded, have occurred, here in the Southern Ocean. I don't know it to be true and certainly the largest waves I've had the displeasure of riding out were all to be found elsewhere. Most of the time, though it's at least slightly rough and never flat calm in this part of the world. you get used to the ship's motion and forget that your on a moving platform. Suddenly a booming crash echoes through the ship. The ship slams backwards under your feet, your chair, whatever. She shakes like a wet dog, heaves a couple of times and settles down. I can feel my heart pounding and everyone is wide-eyed, but silent. Back to work.

Happy Easter back at ya Pirate! I hope this comment shows. I've had some probs getting into your site.
Stay dry. At least feetwise.
A "rouge" wave? Is that like when there's a red tide event? :-)
Rogue: a person or thing that behaves in an aberrant, faulty or unpredictable way.
been reading about rogue waves, so interesting and intriguing..... i can't imagine what it's like out there in that vast drama.... i've been visiting the atlantic ocean this week and am mesmorized by the sight of the ever changing ocean.
well, i hope you're safe and dry ... thank you for sharing your world...
