Homeward Bound

It is my last night onboard.  I packed this afternoon after shift.  Tonight, I'm wrapping up the last of my work, cleaning the place up and getting ready to disembark at the onset of nautical twilight.  We're transferring by fast rescue craft to a commercial tourist ferry.  From there, a bus, then 5 flights to get home.  The typical industry commute.  The only thing I'm missing is a chopper ride, but we'll be back to using choppers next trip up in OZ.

Somebody on the last shift started playing country music. This shift has not yet noticed.  I hope it plays all night.  I'm sick of Ibiza-type pop dance shit.  Gives me a fucking headache.  The whole ship smells of cleaning fluids.  Everything has been mopped, scrubbed, dusted, polished, painted and stowed.  We are ready.
