I'm thinking that is the wave equation which is the 2nd derivative of the wave function......

Yep. I figured you'd get it. Exciting stuff, this wave equation business...
Should I be embarrassed that I knew that?
NO WAY. This really is pretty cool shit. It has uses in optics, acoustics, geophysics and who knows what else.
I wish I could remember even half the stuff I learned in collage and on this good-forsaken job, but alas, it all just leaks out, especially the mathematics. I couldn't differentiate today, to save my life...
